Today I found an online claim for our research task. At first it seemed useful, but I was unaware that the page had no author or publication date.

A classmate suggested checking the claim against a trusted reference source. That comparison was decisive.

When I compared the two, the online claim clearly exaggerated the evidence. The support was inadequate for our task.

Because I could not verify the source, I excluded the claim from my journal. I rightly noted that a legitimate claim needs clear support.

My journal ends with this lesson: a reference tool can help, but it cannot replace careful checking. This is precisely why our class limits phone use to small tasks.
